1-978092 Lai, Benjamin 092 CHINESE BATTLESHIP vs JAPANESE CRUISER: Yalu River 1894 The 1894-95 war between China and Japan, known in the West as the First Sino-Japanese War, lasted only nine months, but its impact resonates today.

The Chinese Beiyang (Northern) Fleet was led by her flagship, Dingyuan, and her sister ship, Zhenyuan, which were the biggest in Asia; German-built armored turret ships, they were armed with four 12-inch guns and two 6-inch guns, plus six smaller guns and three torpedo tubes. For their part the Japanese fleet, including the Matsushima and her sister ships Itsukushima and Hashidate, were each armed with a single 12.6-inch Canet gun and 11 or 12 4.7-inch guns, plus smaller guns and four torpedo tubes. The scene was set for a bloody confrontation that would stun the world and transform the relationship between China and Japan.

Fully illustrated with stunning artwork, this is the engrossing story of the Yalu River campaign, where Chinese and Japanese ironclads fought for control of Korea.1 vol, 80 pgs 2019 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-219280 Mersey, Daniel BATTLE RAVENS: The Shieldwall Board Game Battle Ravens is a game of Viking Age warfare: a brutal clash of strength, cunning and luck, where subtlety and nuance are neither welcome nor commonplace. You need to outthink and outfight your opponent to win the battle. You do so by choosing whether to command your battle line to attack, defend, or redeploy through clever use of action points. Combat is resolved by the roll of dice, and armies consist of Hirdmen (armored warriors), Bondi (unarmored warriors), and Thralls (cowardly but useful skirmishers).

Game will include all the Kickstarter Strech Goals - Tactics Cards for all armies, a mounted board, more dice in the box, optional rules, additional plastic stands, and a printed inlay tray.

Contains: 1 rulebook; 1 game board; 2 Anglo-Saxon army punchboards; 2 x Norse army punchboards; 9 x dice; 78 x plastic stands; and 20 x Tactics Cards.1 vol, 1 pgs 2019

1-219290 Jessop, Mark THE ROYAL NAVY 1793-1800: Birth of a Superpower France declared war upon the British in 1793. The burden to conduct a long conflict proved heavy for that island nation. Poverty increased. Liberties and freedoms were sometimes taken away. Thousands of men had to leave their families, and disease, desertion and death meant that many never returned. At first the Royal Navy barely had enough warships to cope, but eight years later she had more than enough. By that time a threat of invasion towards Ireland prompted Parliament to enact a new nation, christened The United Kingdom of Great Britain. As such, 1800 became the final year of the old Kingdom of Great Britain.

As she passed away, many of her men and women might have wondered as to what had made her navy a true Neptune. What had assisted the slow birth of a naval 'superpower'? This book seeks to answer that very question. Includes 32 black and white illustrations.1 vol, 200 pgs 2018 UK, PEN & SWORD

1-956065 various WORLD AT WAR # 65: Operation Typhoon Operation Typhoon is a solitaire operational-strategic simulation that covers the final advance toward Moscow of Germany's Army Group Center late in 1941. The player actively commands the German forces, while the rules system directs you in the handling of Soviet forces. The system allows the player to plan and execute his advance towards Moscow with the Soviet defending forces being randomly created in each hex dependent on the terrain. You win or lose, ultimately, based on the timely seizure of key areas on the map. Each game turn equals one or two weeks. Each hexagon represents 7.5 miles (12 km) from side to opposite side.

Though designed for solitaire play, Operation Typhoon can include opponents: one German and one Soviet player. Alternatively, for cooperative team play, one player can command the three northern German armies and panzer groups while the other commands the three southern formations. The game map represents the terrain in the operational area of Moscow, with each unit representing the historical German divisions and generic randomly generated Soviet defending forces.

Components: 22x34 inch map, 280 die-cut counters, and the magazine.1 vol, 62 pgs 2018 US, DECISION GAMES

1-963040 MODERN WAR # 40: Chechnya Chechen War is an operational-strategic level two-player simulation of the 1st Chechnya War (1994-1996) wherein the Russian Federation under Boris Yeltsin attempted to directly and forcibly put an end to the Chechen independence movement.

The Russian player must deal with low morale at the front and at home to win the war to keep Chechnya within the Russian Federation. The Chechen player is outgunned and outnumbered, but can wage an effective guerilla campaign to bog down the entire Russian effort and thereby achieve independence. There is a total of nine game turns covering two years of conflict, from December 1994 to December 1996.

The game map encompasses Chechnya and surrounding territories (Georgia, Ingushetia, Dagestan). Included on the counter sheet are Bonus counters for Modern War # 1 (Red Dragon/Green Crescent), Modern War # 18 (Green Beret), Modern War # 21 (Kandahar) and errata counters for Modern War # 17 (Dien Bien Phu).

Components: One 22x34-inch map on one sheet, 144 counters, and the magazine.1 vol, 84 pgs 2019 US, DECISION GAMES
