1-214340 Kling, Sterphen THE BATTLE OF ST. LOUIS, THE ATTACK ON CAHOKIA AND THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION IN THE WEST Compared to events that occurred in the East, the American Revolutionary War in the West has received sparse attention despite its major impact on the geographical extent of the United States after the war. Large format book in all color with a few hundred images (new art, maps, prints, museum photos, etc) and over 22 pages of footnotes.

By 1779, the Americans, under George Rogers Clark, had wrested away most of the eastern side of the Mississippi River from the British. The same year, the Spanish, who controlled the western side of the Mississippi River, entered the war against the British. Orders were issued from the highest levels in Great Britain to sweep the Americans and Spanish from both sides of the Mississippi River. While coordinating several separate attacks, the centerpiece of the grand plan was the descent from the north by a huge British-led Indian contingent upon St. Louis and Cahokia, which suffered simultaneous attacks on May 26, 1780.

This book covers not only those attacks and the entire British grand plan in detail, but also the Willing expedition; the Spanish conquests of Baton Rouge, Mobile, and Pensacola; the attack on Arkansas Post; the final peace treaties; the Louisiana Purchase; the uniforms of the combatants; and a biography of Fernando De Leyba - the defender of St. Louis.1 vol, 328 pgs 2017 US, THE HISTORICAL GAME COMPANY

1-214330 Stone, David THE KAISER'S ARMY: The German Army in World War One Describes and analyzes every aspect of the German Army as it existed under Kaiser Wilhelm II, encompassing its development and antecedents, organization, personnel, weapons, and equipment, inherent strengths and weaknesses, and victories and defeats as it fought on many fronts throughout World War I. Color plate section with photos and illustrations and black and white section with photos.

The book offers considerable detail on the origins and creation of the German army, examining the structure of power in German politics and wider society and the nation's imperial ambitions, along with the ways in which the high command and general staff functioned in terms of strategy and tactical doctrine. 1-214350 Rogalski, Wieslaw DIVIDED LOYALTY: Britain's Polish Ally During World War II At the outbreak of WWI, Poland was a quasi-military state undergoing rapid political and social change. Nevertheless, Britain signed an agreement with the country as part of its decision to adopt a policy of encircling Germany - a resolution requiring an ally in the East.

On the collapse of Poland in October 1939, the country's political opposition executed a coup against the Polish Government and formed a new administration, which was recognized by the Allies as the Polish Government in Exile. This regime change precipitated a feud between the supporters of the new and old governments, which lasted throughout the war.

In 1945, the British removed their recognition of the exiled government - now based in London - to pave the way for the Soviet Union to impose a communist administration in Poland.1 vol, 224 pgs 2017 UK, HELION AND COMPANY
