MORAT 1476: The Bloody War Between Charles the Bold and the Swiss
by Cristini, Luca
1-1947521
The war between Duke of Burgundy Charles the Bold and the Swiss Confederation started in 1474. In the following years, Charles was defeated three times on the battlefield: Grandson, Morat, and Nancy -- and in the last battle being killed.
These wars represent the end of the Duchy of Burgundy, as all its territories and those belonging to it soon became part of France, while the Burgundian possessions in the Netherlands and in the Franche-Comte were inherited by the daughter of Charles I, Mary of Burgundy. In the end, marriage with Maximilian transmitted the territories to the House of the Habsburgs. Includes color plates.
