The International Brigades were volunteer military units composed of foreigners who fought on the side of the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War. Motivated to fight on political or social grounds, they made their way to Spain independently of the Spanish government. Originally, there was no real organization to the streams of volunteers arriving from every quarter of the world, but eventually, the units evolved into brigades.
Includes eight full-color pages, with many b/w illustrations and maps. Italian text, but English captions to images. All color plates have full English translations.
