AUTOMITRAGLIATRICI MOTOMITRAGLIATRICI ARMORED AND THE GREAT WAR

AUTOMITRAGLIATRICI MOTOMITRAGLIATRICI ARMORED AND THE GREAT WAR
by Pignato, N

1-198720

During the First World War the Italian army was not able to send out, for the limited possibilities for industry and the lack of cooperation of the Allies, 'tanks' that had appeared in Flanders since September 1916. However, the Supreme Command was able to field a small group of armored automitragliatrici on the Isonzo between 1915 and 1916. Others were prepared in late 1917, and after the retreat on the Piave were used both to counter the Austrian offensive in June at Vittorio Veneto.

The volume traces its troubled history, along with that short of motomitragliatrici departments created in the summer of 1918. The author, after having dwelt on technical developments of the machine Ansaldo, also recalls the studies of numerous patents and inventors. Illustrated with 208 images and 19 b/w plates .
