From 1757 through to 1762 an Allied Coalition army fought against the French in support of Prussia. In August 1758, the first British contingent of troops arrived. The Allied army was a polyglot mix from nations including Britain, Brunswick, Hanover, Hesse, Prussia and Schaumburg-Lippe-Buckeburg.
