Written in 1936, this recounts the complete story of Capt. William J. Reddan of the NJ National Guard after reporting for service with the Army's Company B, 114th Infantry Regt, 29th Infantry Division in March 1917. Covers training and then duty in France in June 1918 as he took part in the Meuse-Argonne offensive. Wounded by both shrapnel and gas, Reddan was evacuated to a field hospital and did not return to his unit until after peace was declared.
