Bio of Major General Johann de Kalb's heroic actions at the battle of Camden, South Carolina, where he commanded on despite bleeding from 11 wounds, ultimately dying three days after the battle. Johann de Kalb was a largely unknown, able, professional soldier with broad European experience. His extensive knowledge and leadership were valuable to the American cause while exemplifying the prosaic requirements of much military service and he offered steady, quiet and ultimately heroic contributions during the American Revolution.
