THE SOVIET INFANTRYMAN ON THE EASTERN FRONT
by Forty, Simon
1-242200
Poorly led and ill trained at the outset of the German WWII invasion, the Soviet Army could defend enough territory, place enough troops into combat, and garner just enough Western aid to halt and eventually roll back the German Army. Russian infantry equipment was rugged and effective. While Soviet infantrymen may not have had the flexibility or tactical skills of the Germans, they did not lack in cunning: deception, camouflage skills, and endurance made then more than the equal of the Germans. Fully illustrated with over 150 contemporary photographs and illustrations.
