Raymond Desvarreux Larpenteur is a world-renowned military artist who lived from 1876 - 1961. Most noteworthy among his many honors was the Gold Medal 1st Class of the Societe Francaise, a Lauresteship in the Academy Francaise and the Legion of Honor. He was decorated by four other nations. Mr. Desvarreux painted the original paintings in Paris, France in the mid-1950's exclusively for Alfred B.C. Batson. Mr. Batson, with approval from the artist, offered exclusive reproductions for the public to obtain and enjoy.
