A rejuvenated army of Galicia, Asturias, Leon, and Castile dealt a serious setback to the VI Corps of the French army, only to be beaten at Alba de Tormes. Eventually, the Army of the Left would recover, this time to shelter from the Portuguese border and Ciudad Rodrigo.
