GUERRAS CIVILES III: LA INDEPENDENCIA DE LOS VIRREINATOS DE LA MONAROUIA ESPANOLA: Volume 3

GUERRAS CIVILES III: LA INDEPENDENCIA DE LOS VIRREINATOS DE LA MONAROUIA ESPANOLA: Volume 3
by Fernandez, Jose

1-666130

This third volume dedicated to the military campaigns of the Latin American Emancipation Wars focuses on the Viceroyalty of Peru and the General Captain of Chile. In the lands between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes Mountains, the Royal Army of Peru fought the most 'American' of campaigns in South America.

Under the direction of the Virreyes Jose de Abascal and Joaquin de la Pezuela, the soldiers fought in Chile between the years 1813 and 1818 against the Chilean independence, altering the military balance. General Jose de San Martin crossed the Andes with disciplined troops and won the decisive victories of Chacabuco and Maipu. Reinforced and sustained by the Chilean navy of the Admiral Blanco Encalada and Lord Cochrane, General San Martin took his Chilean army to confront the Peruvians.
