OLMEDO 1445

OLMEDO 1445
by Moreno, Manual

1-666143

The instability of the reign of Juan II of Castile, caused by the disputes between the king's favorite, the constable Don Alvaro de Luna and the league of nobles led by the infantes of Aragon, with the support of the kingdom of Navarra, crystallized in a warlike confrontation which lasted, truces in between, between 1437 and 1445, with the final match being fought in the summer of this last year in front of the town of Olmedo.

This book explains the causes and maneuvers of the campaign and offers an authentic treatise on the rules of combat, tactics , equipment, and weapons typical of the mid-15th century. It provides a multitude of weaponry details and curiosities, including the techniques used with each of the various weapons.

This battle is a confrontation between nobles who followed the rules of chivalry. In the mid-15th century, the code ordered many aspects of the forms, weapons, and techniques used in combat, creating the personal honor of the knight and that of his entire household.
