THE BURGUNDY WARS
1-902930
The Burgundy Wars are generally considered to be the campaigns of the last Duke of Burgundy against the Confederates. The Duke Charles the Bold was defeated in several battles and found death at the beginning of 1477 at Nancy. This event and the ensuing dispute over the Burgundian heritage are of immense historical importance, as they mark the beginning of the Franco-German hereditary enmity.
This book depicts the Burgundian wars from the campaigns against Liege, the siege of Neuss, the battles in the Sundgau and in Lorraine, and the fighting against the Confederates. The role of the Swiss allies is acknowledged as well as the importance of the French and English crowns in this conflict.
Discusses the driving forces behind the war against Charles the Bold and which factors led to his downfall. Includes 13 contemporary illustrations, 14 color photos, and about 25 partly full-page re-enactment recordings.
