1-2151523 Cristini, Luca UNIFORMS OF FRENCH RESTORATION 1814-1830 - Vol. 3 Illustrations of the French Restoration Army by several famous French artists of the 19th century. The first part contains plates by Jacques Marie Gaston Onfray De Breville better known As Job. The other artists are: Aubry, Benigni, Boisselier, E.Chaperon, Dupray, Hilpert, Knotel, Krakow, Lapeyre, R.Louis, Roux, Vallet, and others.

Like the other volumes in the series, this book is based almost entirely on the Viskuezzen collection, which belongs to the NYPL, to whom we are particularly grateful. We left all the captions of the plates in the original French text. All the plates have been extensively restored and partially reconstructed, since the originals preserved at the NYPL are not in good condition, often assembled in rough cut-outs etc.

Napoleon was defeated by a combined Allied army in 1815 at Waterloo, and Louis XVIII was returned to the throne. Realizing that the remains of the existing army had no loyalty to the restored monarchy, the government of Louis XVIII undertook a wholesale disbandment of what had been Napoleon's regiments. In their place he created a system of Departmental Legions with no historic connections to empire, republic, or even the pre-1792 monarchy. His government appointed many aristocratic officers to the new army, which lost much of its morale, much as it had in 1789. In 1823, a French expeditionary force aided Spanish troops loyal to the Bourbon king of that country when his regime was threatened by an uprising. In 1830, Louis XVIII's brother, Charles X, now king, was toppled in the July Revolution.

On the second return of Louis XVIII, after the Hundred Days, the Military House was reestablished by the Ordinance of September 1, 1815. This royal guard was created to ensure, in addition to the military house (Maison du Roi), the protection of the king of France. It served Louis XVIII and Charles X, before being abolished by Louis-Philippe. The Maison du Roi was then deeply reduced and was no longer made up of four companies of Bodyguards, one company of the Hundred Swiss and a company of the Gardes de la Prevote, a force of about 2,000 men. The king reserves the title of colonel General and he places at the head of the royal guard four marshals with the title of majors general: the Duke of Reggio (Oudinot), the Duke of Bellune (Victor), the Duke of Taranto (MacDonald ) and the Duke of Ragusa (Marmont).1 vol, 96 pgs 2021 ITALY, SOLDIER SHOP

When Louis XVIII returns to France in 1814, he intends to give back brightness to his house. The order of May 25, 1814 endorses the creation of several units, some of which had already disappeared before the revolution. 1-226870 Bennett, Martyn IN THE MIDST OF THE KINGDOM: The Royalist War Effort in the North Midlands, 1642-1646 Reassess the nature of the royalist cause in the North midland counties of Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Rutland, and Staffordshire during the first civil war (1642-1646).

Previous accounts of the war in the region have been heavily dependent on parliamentarian accounts, which were not written in order to create a thorough narrative of the war, but to demonize the royalists and their cause. The resultant image created by the hostile accounts was a war of confusing, rapine and disorder.

Examination of a wider range of information showed that by contrast the royalists had a regional command structure which exploited thoroughly at times the resources of the region to fund their war effort. However, there were several problems within that war effort. Command was subject to internal rivalries and the interference of the king. Moreover the higher levels of command in the royalist cause created problems for the royalist commander Lord Loughborough, as his region was divided between different commanders at several points in the war. 1 vol, 290 pgs 2021 UK, HELION AND COMPANY

1-22539021 Crippa, Paalo THE LANDSCHUTZ OF THE ADRIATIC COAST(OZAK) After the Armistice and the consequent German occupation of the Julian regions, which were in fact annexed to the German Reich with the creation of the Zone of Operations of the Adriatic Coast, the German military authorities decreed the establishment of territorial self-defense units, formed by Italian, Slovenian, and Croatian citizens, to flank the German units in the fight against the partisan phenomenon.

The Landschutz was thus organized as an ethnically based corps to contribute to the maintenance of order and security. It was formally established by Supreme Commissioner Rainer on October 1, 1943. In the varied panorama of units created during the war with non-German personnel, not enough importance has ever been given to these small units of Territorial Defense, and this volume attempts to provide as in-depth an analysis of the life of the Landschutz.

1-22539023 Crippa, Paolo THE ARMORED UNITS OF THE ROYAL ARMY AND THE ARMISTICE The Armistice of 8 September 1943 caught the Italian armored units scattered not only on the national territory, but also abroad. Like all Italian units, reaction to the armistice was varied. The units that opposed the German attacks, although in need of armaments, fought for reasons of desperation, in a war that was now lost, and for a touch of military pride. This first volume deals with Italian tank and Armored Cavalry units' reactions and the attempts to defend the city of Rome. 1 vol, 100 pgs 2021 ITALY, SOLDIER SHOP

1-1947526 Cristini, Luca VILLERS-BOCAGE 1944: Tiger vs Firefly & Cromwell On the 13th of June of 1944, in less than an hour, at least twelve tanks, fourteen armored vehicles, two guns and a scout carrier were destroyed by a single tank. This is the striking feat of Michael Wittmann, the most famous panzer commander of the Second World War. 8 map 3D and five graphic plates

A sensational feat that galvanized even Hitler, who in fact awarded the German officer with the Knight's Cross with Oak Fronds and Swords, the highest honor to which a tank commander could aspire. However Villers-Bocage would be his last undertaking, but certainly the most sensational. Wittman, known in his homeland as the 'Black Baron' enters the legend!1 vol, 88 pgs 2021 ITALY, SOLDIER SHOP

1-22539020 Manes, Luigi THE LEGNANO COMBAT GROUP The Legnano Infantry Division is considered the first nucleus of the co-belligerent Italian Army. As part of the First Motorized Group, it made its combat debut at Montelungo on 8 December, 1943. Five months later, this small formation was expanded, becoming the Italian Liberation Corps. Beginning in September 1944, six Italian Combat Groups, equipped with Allied weapons and materiel, were established. The Legnano Combat Group, heir of the Legnano Division, was given the responsibility of the Idice Valley sector on 23 March 1945. Commanded by General Umberto Utili, the Group participated to the liberation of Bologna and was also involved in other fights before the end of the war in Italy, the last of which took place in Val Sabbia on 2 May 1945. 1 vol, 100 pgs 2021 ITALY, SOLDIER SHOP
