1-195033 Priestley, Rick HAIL CAESAR: Army Lists Volume 3: Rome's Dacian Wars At the end of the first century AD, the Roman Empire was the greatest military power the world had ever seen. All of Western Europe south of the Rhine and the Danube, southern Britain, North Africa, Egypt, the Balkans and most of the Levant was under its control. The mighty Roman army and its legions had rarely known defeat in living memory - and never for very long.

One upstart state and its wily, aggressive leader refused to bend the knee. For almost 20 years, and against all odds, King Decebalus of Dacia defied Rome from his fortress capital deep within the Carpathian Mountains. Composed of thousands of savage tribesmen and heavily armored Sarmatian lancers, Dacia's armies proved to be powerful enough to keep the legions at bay. All this was to change with the ascension of the soldier-emperor Trajan, leading to one of antiquity's greatest conflicts - the Dacian Wars.

This supplement for Hail Caesar focuses on Rome's wars under Trajan against the Dacians and their Sarmatian allies. Featured battles include Adamclisi, Tapae, and the Siege of Sarmizegetusa Regia. Also included are rules for playing skirmish games, fighting sieges, and using warships, as well as campaign and hobby ideas. 1 vol, 84 pgs 2013 UK, WARLORD GAMES

1-195310 Wills, Gary David WELLINGTON'S FIRST BATTLE Full color throughout and illustrated with campaign and battlefield maps.

Tells the story of the Duke of Wellington's involvement in his first campaign -- the Duke of York's defence of Belgium and Holland in 1794 and early 1795.

During this campaign, the Duke of Wellington fought his first battle, the combat of Boxtel on the 15th September 1794. The Duke of Wellington is rightly considered a 'great commander', arguably Great Britain's greatest soldier. It is surprising therefore that so little has been written about his early career and the formative experiences of war that guided him in his rise to greatness. Historians past and present have naturally focussed on the Wars of Napoleon rather than those of the preceding Revolutionary period. However the French Revolutionary Wars witnessed the art of warfare in arguably a greater state of flux than the later Napoleonic period and provided the training ground for all the great soldiers who fought for and against Napoleon.

In August 1794, while Napoleon languished in prison in Fort Carre near Antibes, the focus of the war was more than five hundred miles away to the north in the Netherlands, where Revolutionary France's largest and most powerful armies fought the combined forces of Austria, Great Britain and the United Provinces.

The man who would become the Duke of Wellington, Field Marshal in several countries, had departed from Cork as Sir Arthur Wesley, Lieutenant-Colonel of the 33rd Foot, the regiment that would later bear his name. Wesley and his regiment joined Lord Moira's force and travelled to Ostend in order to reinforce the army of the Duke of York. The second half of 1794 provided Wesley with his first active service on campaign, in which he found neither fame (his name is not mentioned in any of the contemporary accounts of Boxtel) nor fortune, but he did gain experience.

1-202090 Sampson, Gareth CRISIS OF ROME: The Jugurthine and Northern Wars and the Rise of Marius In the later 2nd century BC, after a period of rapid expansion and conquest, the Roman Republic found itself in crisis. In North Africa her armies were already bogged down in a long difficult guerrilla war in a harsh environment when invasion by a coalition of Germanic tribes, the Cimbri, Teutones and Ambrones, threatened Italy and Rome itself, inflicting painful defeats on Roman forces in pitched battle Gaius Marius was the man of the hour.

The first war he brought to an end through tactical brilliance, bringing the Numidian King Jugurtha back in chains. Before his ship even returned to Italy, the senate elected Marius to lead the war against the northern invaders. Reorganizing and reinvigorating the demoralized Roman legions, he led them to two remarkable victories in the space of months, crushing the Teutones and Ambrones at Aquiae Sextae and the Cimbri at Vercellae.

The Roman army emerged from this period of crisis a much leaner and more professional force and the author examines the extent to which the 'Marian Reforms' were responsible for this and the extent to which they can be attributed to Marius himself. 1 vol, 192 pgs 2010 UK, PEN & SWORD

1-202520 Rocco, Keith NAPOLEON'S FIRST ITALIAN CAMPAIGN 1796-1797 The finest qualities of old world, 19th-century bookmaking resurface in the creation of this book. Full, leather binding with gilt stamping encases this oversize 14x10-inch volume. Marbled endpapers, silk ribbon page marker, and heavy, gilt edged archival pages.

Includes over 40 commissioned maps, 50 full-color Rocco paintings, artifact photos, numerous sketches, two appendices featuring over 40 primary uniform illustrations that served as sources for Keith Rocco's work.

Napoleon received command of the Army of Italy while serving under the French Revolutionary Government known as The Directory. Napoleon's appointment has long been impugned by various anti-Bonaparte historians as being the result of his courtship and marriage to Josephine rather than as an award of merit.

Phipps convincingly dismisses these myths largely by refuting the 'memoirs' of Director Paul Barras, an often used but scurrilous source. Napoleon's sudden rise can mostly be attributed to his resolve on October 5th, 1795, where, on duty in Paris, he led the suppression of an armed Royalist mob with the famous 'whiff of grapeshot,' directing artillery fire that clattered down the streets of Paris, bloodily repulsing the insurrection. Napoleon, in essence, had saved the Directory with his decisive response to the crisis. 1 vol, 272 pgs 2013 US, MILITARY HISTORY PRESS

1-207080 Cardona, Ricardo Recio STURMTRUPPEN: WWI German Stormtroopers (1914-1918) After General Falkenhayn, head of the OHL, gave orders for the creation of special detachments, the first assault units (Sturmtruppen) were formed during the spring and summer of 1916, when the Sturmbataillon Rohr was organized. These detachments had the mission of spreading the Stosstrupptaktik, a new tactic which decisively transformed the fighting methods of the German Army.

But long before this happened, another type of troops had been created within the German infantry during the winter of 1914-1915: the Shock troops (Stosstruppen), fresh infantry groups that were never officially recognized as such and never belonged to any permanent unit, but remained active until the end of the war and contributed to improving the offensive capacity of the German infantry.

This 8.5x11-inch book is a narration of the history of the shock and assault troops and covers their combat methods. Finally, it offers a comprehensive description of their uniforms, equipment, and weapons, along with a large number of illustrations and period photographs rarely seen. 1 vol, 216 pgs 2014 SPAIN, ANDREA PRESS

1-207800 Larsson, Lars HITLER'S SWEDES: A History of the Swedish Volunteers in the Waffen SS Sweden was neutral during WWII, but thousands of Swedes wanted to participate in the war -- the largest group was in Finland, where over 10,000 Swedes applied to fight against the Red Army. Another much smaller group of some 180-200 men, which saw action against the Soviets, enlisted as SS volunteers.

While the Danish and Norwegian SS volunteers are fairly well known today, their Swedish counterparts remain more unknown. Still, they saw action on both the Eastern Front and NW Europe, and participated in some of the bloodiest clashes: the initial stages of Operation Barbarossa, the winter of 1941/42, the battles of Kursk, Arnhem, Normandy, Narva, the Warsaw uprising, the Cherkassy and Kurland pockets and, finally, the end in Berlin.

Compared to many other groups of volunteers, there was never an official recruitment drive in Sweden. Those who wanted to recruit themselves often had to make their way to the occupied countries -- a fact that makes those Swedes who joined the SS volunteers in the truest sense.

As such, this book is as much a history about the units, which the Swedes served in, as it is a story about the individuals themselves. It also asks, who were they? What motivated them? What did they experience and how did their service end? Includes 160 b/w photos and color maps. 1 vol, 336 pgs 2015 UK, HELION AND COMPANY

1-212520 BULGE: Watch on the Rhine Sep 1944 - Feb 1945 Two new FOW hard-cover books compile Blood Guts & Glory, Devil's Charge, and Nuts, along with plenty of exciting new Intelligence Briefings for German, US, and British forces in the final stages of the war.

This compilation features both The Battle of the Bulge and The Ardennes Offensive books in a special slip case released in early September 2016; the individual books were available in late September and retailed for $30.00 each.

The Battle of the Bulge brings Flames Of War players into the hard-fought battles along the German border with Belgium, Luxembourg, and France, from the Lorraine campaign, to the Hurtgen Forest, the Battle of the Bulge, and German Operation Nordwind.

You can field the American forces that retook the Lorraine region and pushed the Germans back to their border, or the British that drove through northern France to liberate Belgium.

The Ardennes Offensive provides Flames Of War players with the German forces needed to recreate the battles on the German frontier from September 1944 to February 1945, including Germany's new Panzer Brigades and equipment such as the new StG44 assault rifles. 2 vol, 445 pgs 2016 UK, BATTLEFRONT USA

1-213000 SWORDPOINT: Ancient and Medieval Miniatures Rules 1st ed with (24) page supplement of new rules GB is about to issue the 2nd edition in the next month or so, but has also released a 24-page Supplement to adapt 1st edition rules to 2nd edition standard. OMM has discounted the 1st edition rules and included the 24-page Supplement. Note: Only two copies of 1st edition arules are available -- first come, first served.

Swordpoint is a new set of big battle game rules for fighting actions in the ancient and medieval periods. It has been developed over the last two and a half years by the Gripping Beast team and an enthusiastic play-test group. It was developed for 28mm figures but, as it employs multi-figure bases, various sizes of figures can be used.

Games fought with Swordpoint involve between 100 and 250 figures per side arranged into between six and 12 or so units. The game is designed to play out in about two hours after set-up, and gives a large battle feel. It encourages the use of historical tactics and emphasizes the need to maintain cohesion in the army's battle line, without being prescriptive. Unusual units are catered for by special rules which give the flavor of their historical prototypes.

1-218491 Stallard, John CRUEL SEAS: Royal Navy Vosper MTB Flotilla - 1:300 Scale Six Vosper MTBs (3 early and 3 late): 1/300 Scale plastic models.

At the outbreak of war, Britain had 3 formed MTB flotillas, precious few to cover the world's largest empire. But with judicious use of what were pre-war civilian boatyards and the huge resources of their empire and help from the USA, the Coastal Forces would in 1944 have 25,000 sailors in over 2000 small craft.

These Flotillas, enhanced by Commonwealth, Dutch, Norwegian, French, and other free forces sank over 400 enemy vessels, including 48 E-boats and 32 midget submarines. They also accounted for 32 Axis aircraft and fired in total 1169 torpedoes. This impressive tactical achievement contributed mightily to the Allied strategic successes. 1 vol, 6 pgs 2018 UK, WARLORD GAMES

1-218492 Stallard, John CRUEL SEAS: US Navy PT Boat Flotilla - 1:300 Scale Contains: Six PT boats (3x Elco and 3x Higgins) 1/300 Scale plastic models.

On December 7th, 1941, the US Navy could only boast 3 squadrons of motor torpedo boats, or PT boats (patrol torpedo) as they were named. PT squadron 1 was based on Pearl Harbor and the 12 boats opened fire on the incoming Japanese bombers, claiming 2 planes downed for sure and others damaged. Squadron 2 was based in Manila Bay of the Philippines and had a similar introduction to their war, shooting down a few attackers and learning that fast boats were a tricky target for bombers. Squadron 3 was in New York working up and would later see great service in Guadalcanal.

The PT boats fought all over the globe, from Pearl Harbor to the Philippines, the Adriatic and Mediterranean and also in the English Channel. They achieved many successes, particularly in the last two years of the Pacific War they destroyed many float planes and hundreds of barges which were the lifeblood of the overextended Japanese army. This barge hunting was a grueling business and needed a certain ruthlessness on the behalf of the American crews, Japanese soldiers and sailors being loath to surrender, hence a grizzly end to many a barge crew. 1 vol, 6 pgs 2018 UK, WARLORD GAMES

1-218493 Stallard, John CRUEL SEAS: Kriegsmarine S-boat Flotilla - 1:300 Scale Contains: six E-boats (3x S-38 and 3x S-100) 1/300 Scale plastic models.

The Schnellboat or 'E Boat' as the British Admiralty called them, E for enemy, was a truly formidable beast, in many ways incomparable in detail to the other nation's boats. In sheer size alone, the E boat was much, much bigger. Allied boats tended to be 70-80 feet in length, the E boat 115 feet long, and the laws of physics, though complex, favor a larger hull for speed over a shorter one.

German engineering also gave them another advantage, as when speed reached 25 knots, a crank mechanism when turned moved two side rudders to flare, symmetrically outward at 30 degrees, creating an air-filled hollow space, the so-called Lurssen effect. This gave three distinct advantages, greater speed, a reduction in the tell-tale wake of the speeding boat, and finally settled the boat in a more efficient plane, leaving the vessel shallower in the water, most useful in mine and torpedo infested waters and remarkable for a boat weighing in at 100 tons! 1 vol, 6 pgs 2018 UK, WARLORD GAMES

By 1941 there were 29 total PTs in the US Navy, but by December 1943 there were 29 squadrons. Indeed, by the end of the war the small ships, PT's LCI etc. numbered 7,000 craft of 80 types. Many Early PT boats had up to four torpedoes and two twin .50 Cal guns in powered mounting, a heavy load for the day. As with most American hardware, this was only the start. Soon a 20mm was added at the stern as standard, useful for surface or air action. Then, enterprising crews frustrated by strafing the tough Japanese barges to negligible effect mounted a USAAF 37mm automatic gun (acquired from an Air Cobra) and found it most effective. 1 vol, 7 pgs 2018 UK, WARLORD GAMES

Cruel Seas focuses on the cat and mouse hunts that happened nightly in the Philippines, Guadalcanal and the Solomon's. They could be IJN sub chasers stalking a crippled US submarine, or mine layers playing their trade at night. Most commonly it will be Japanese barge convoys defending themselves in shallow water against rapacious PT boats. Turning the tables, a late war game could be played out with American landing ships and the terrifying Shin'yo Kamikaze craft.

The IJN, therefore, is an interesting mixture of the very sophisticated and the very amateur, boldness being a connecting factor whether in battleships or tiny craft. It is a do or die force designed to close, but if it dithers or maintains range, Allied technology and firepower will overwhelm it. 1 vol, 17 pgs 2018 UK, WARLORD GAMES

1-930264 Koenig, Paul S&T #264 - Shiloh: Bloody April, 1862 The design, by Paul Koenig, uses an evolution of the old-Avalon Hill classic, Gettysburg '77. Each game turn equals one hour, and each hex on the map represents 100 yards. Units of maneuver are double-sided brigades. Rules cover: roads, surprise, fatigue, rout, organization, ranged fire, reinforcements, army organization, gunboats, night, and more. There are three scenarios: one for each day and a combined look at the entire two-day battle. Historical set-ups are provided for all scenarios. The short scenarios can be completed in about four hours. The game includes a 34x22 hex map and 176 large-sized NATO-style, back-printed units. Solitaire play is doable.

1-930276 Miranda, Joseph S&T 276 OPERATION ANACONDA Wargame: Operation Anaconda, designed by Joseph Miranda, is an intermediate-complexity, grand-tactical game covering that codenamed battle fought between US/Coalition forces and Al Qaeda in eastern Afghanistan in March 2002. It featured a combined US-Afghan-Coalition force attempting to surround and destroy enemy units while also capturing or killing Bin Laden. The operation ultimately failed in its larger objectives owing to poor command control. While technically and tactically a Coalition victory, the fighting demonstrated the strengths and weaknesses that have characterized both sides ever since.

The design uses the well-liked 'Boots' system, which makes command-control the central feature of play. Each player commands a force composed of one or more 'sub-commands.' Those sub-commands are moved and fought according to the random pick of Command Chits. When a particular chit is picked, its corresponding sub-command is activated. Since players don't know the order in which the chits will be picked, play becomes chaotic as they strive to create and exploit opportunities.

This is a two-player game, with one commanding Coalition forces and the other those of Al Qaeda. Combat is quasi-tactical. Additionally, the Coalition player has access to various types of fire support, such as airstrikes; however, that support (as well as reinforcement) become available at random. The Al Qaeda player has the advantage of his units being deployed face down, and his opponent must use ISR (Intelligence-Surveillance-Reconnaissance) to reveal them. Play is a tense contest between asymmetric forces. 1 vol, 62 pgs 2012 CA, DECISION GAMES

1-956015 Bomba, Ty World at War #15- Soft Underbelly:Italy 1943 The War in Southern Italy, 1943 (SU). It's an intermediate-complexity, two-player wargame simulating that historic World War II campaign. It may also be used to explore the 'what ifs' inherent in the situation had the German high command chosen to react to the Allied landings in a much different manner: making that effort's defeat Berlin's main strategic goal for late 1943 (Operation Wacht am Tiber). The design therefore combines factual historical detail with studied counter-factual analysis to present players with a situation that will be familiar to most of them, while at the same time allowing for an easy and seamless transition into the less certain realm of alternative history.

Each extra-large-hex on the 34x22' mapsheet equals 11 miles (18 km) when measured from side to opposite side. Each game turn represents between two and 15 days, depending on the exact time of year of each one. That is, as the autumn weather worsens, and attrition and the inevitable declines in soldier morale and force-robustness take their tolls, each game turn comes to represent a longer period of time. That approach allows for the smooth building into the system of what would otherwise be burdensome factors of weather, ground conditions, operational tempo, etc. Every ground unit represents a division or division-equivalent (176 large-size NATO-style).

The game uses the well-liked system originally created by Ben Knight for Victory in Normandy. There are approximately 14,500 words in the rules. A complete game of SU generally takes from four to five hours to complete, and it's suitable for solitaire play. Rules cover such things as: Allied end-run second invasions, Luftwaffe seaport raids, reinforcements, withdrawals, paratroop drops, naval gun support, both sides' army and corps organizational schemes, German tactical superiority, tactical and strategic airpower and much more.

1-956016 Bomba, Ty World at War #16 - Partizan Partizan is a two-player, intermediate-complexity, historical simulation of the struggle between the Communists and the Axis occupation forces for mastery of Yugoslavia 1941-1944. The 228 iconic and NATO-style counter-mix includes the brigades and divisions of German, Italian, Hungarian, Croatian, Bulgarian, and Ustashi units, as well as all the Partisan forces and Marshal Tito himself (the Chetniks are handled abstractly). Partisan units' exact strengths are mostly unknown by the Axis player (via 'tried' and 'untried' counter-sides).

The 34x22-inch extra-large-hex map contains various infrastructure (warehouses, fuel dumps, bridges, and so on) as well as resource hexes representing strategic mineral deposits, such as bauxite, copper and chromium, which the Axis player must protect, along with routes from them back to Germany, while also guarding possible invasion beaches along the coast. 1 vol, 62 pgs 2010 CA, DECISION GAMES

1-956022 Miranda, Joseph WORLD AT WAR 22: Minsk '44 The second game in Joseph Miranda's new East Front Battles Series, which began with Guards Tank in issue 13 -- covers the crucial exploitation phase of the great Soviet summer offensive against the Germans' Army Group Center, in June of 1944. The game utilizes the classic quad series rules' mechanics and a retreat-emphasizing differential combat system to encourage encirclement tactics, so typical of Soviet armor strategy during World War II.

Minsk is a two-player (Soviet versus German) operational level game. The game includes 228 medium-sized die-cut counters, with the division as the primary maneuver unit, and also includes air units, untried units, blown bridge markers, and headquarters units. The colorful map features the area of the Third Belorussian Front during Operation Bagration, with each hex representing approximately 2 miles across, and includes such prominent locations as Berezina and the transportation center of Minsk.

The rules entail a variety of standard and unique rules, such as Railroad Movement, 'What if' Optional Reinforcements, Blowing Bridges, Untried Units, and the full range of historical unit formations, such as 5th Guards Tank Army, and the 505th Heavy Armor unit, etc.

Victory in the game is determined by the accumulation of VP for control of important hexes, as well as evacuating friendly units

1-978016 016 SEAFIRE vs A6M ZERO Products of vastly different design philosophies, the Seafire F III and the A6M Zero were never intended to meet in combat, and never should have. The Zero, extremely nimble at low speeds was purpose-built as a shipboard fighter. In contrast, the Spitfire was intended to operate from established airfields, and needed to be adapted as a carrier fighter.

The book examines these two iconic fighters and their two very different histories, using fantastic artwork and first-hand accounts to illustrate the last aerial duel of World War II, as the British Seafire overcame its critics to emerge victorious over the Japanese Zero.

1-993072 072 F-86 SABRE ACES OF THE 4TH FIGHTER WING The entry of the United State's premier jet interceptor into the Korean War was triggered by the ever-increasing presence of the Soviet-built MiG-15 south of the Yalu River. The possibility of the USAF losing air supremacy over the Korean Peninsula was unacceptable. The 4th Fighter Wing got the call for combat in Korea. They were made up of a combination of new pilots right out of jet training and the older combat veterans of World War II vintage. This combination of pilot types wrote and re-wrote the text books on jet warfare. Of the 40 jet aces that the war produced, the 4th Wing boasted 24 of them. This book details these incredible pilots and the planes they flew. 1 vol, 96 pgs 2006 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-996091 091 KOLIN 1757 In May of 1757 Frederick the Great invaded Bohemia, smashed an Austrian army outside Prague and bottled it up in the city. The Empress Maria Theresa dispatched Marshal Daun with 60,000 men to save the Empire's second city. Frederick had won a string of victories over the Austrians and was convinced his men would always triumph.

Although outnumbered he attacked, but the Austrians were waiting. His army was defeated and forced to withdraw. As his veterans commented, 'they were not the same old Austrians at all'. Simon Millar shows how Frederick's overconfidence proved his undoing at Kolin.

An essential part of German propaganda was the raising of non-German volunteer contingents, variously named as 'Legions' and 'Free Corps'. These units were from their outset mere token forces, comparatively insignificant in numbers and maintained chiefly for their propaganda value. However, as the tide of battle turned relentlessly against the Germans, the appeal for volunteers became ever more desperate. 1 vol, 48 pgs 1994 LONDON, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-ATO041 Rinella, Michael AGAINST THE ODDS # 41: Circle of Fire -- Siege of Cholm 1942 Though now largely forgotten, the successful defense of Cholm by Kampfgruppe Scherer ranks as one of the great small unit sieges of WWII. Now you can relive the first 10 days of this epic battle, when the underfed soldiers of the Soviet 3rd Shock Army attempted to capture the town, its food, and its vital road hub on the march and avoid what would ultimately become a long and unsuccessful siege.

As the Soviet side, you have more men, stronger artillery, and armor. As the German side, you have the town, the high ground, and air power. Hitler has declared Cholm a festung: there will be no withdrawal. In the waist-deep snow and sub-zero temperatures the battle will be fought to the last man and the last grenade.

Circle of Fire: The Siege of Cholm, 1942, by designer Michael Rinella, uses an updated version of the low-complexity area-impulse system first used in the award-winning Avalon Hill classic Storm Over Arnhem. Unlike that game, however, this design includes a hallmark of later area-impulse games: the sudden death mechanism to end turns unpredictably.

The game includes a full size area map produced directly from aerial photographs and situational maps, and 176 large counters. Easy to learn, quick to set up, and fast to play, Circle of Fire is both a great introduction to the area-impulse system and a great introductory conflict simulation game. 1 vol, 60 pgs 2013 US, AGAINST THE ODDS

1-DV1016 Schueler, David U-Boat Leader - The Battle for the North Atlantic (1st Edition) U-Boat Leader takes the Leader series to new depths, letting players control a group of U-boats on missions in the Atlantic. The core system of the game will be familiar to players of other Leader games, allowing them to quickly get into the game.

A major portion of the game is determining where to send your submarines. Do you concentrate your submarines in one or two areas to form wolfpacks or spread them out in the shipping lanes to increase the chances of finding contacts, or do you send them on special missions (such as mine-laying)? You can also spend Special Operations Points to support your submarines by adding search planes to help find enemy ships or by sending supply ships and subs (Milk Cows) to extend the endurance of the submarines. During longer campaigns you need to manage the U-boat patrol rotation to keep subs on station.

When a patrolling U-boat comes into contact with an enemy force it can call other boats in the same patrol zone to form a wolfpack or attack alone. The action then shifts to the tactical display where the U-boats try to close with and attack merchants while avoiding the escorting warships. When an attack starts you will have an idea of the number and general type of ships in the group, but you have to close with the ships to actually identify the ships.

U-Boat Leader includes the following type of U-boats:

Type IIB/C coastal submarines

Type VII A/B/C Atlantic submarines

Type IX A/B/C long-range submarines

Type XXI Elektro-boat

U-Boat Leader includes four campaigns covering different stages of the Battle of the Atlantic:

The Battle Begins: covering operations at the start of World War II to about mid-1940.

The Happy Time: covering the period from mid-1940 to mid-1941 when the U-boats and wolfpacks dominated the seas.

Operation Drumbeat: covering operations off the American coast and in the Caribbean in early 1942.

The Hunted: covering the time period when the tide starts to turn against the U-boats.

2-FPG002 van Hoose, David THE BATTLE OF KURSK: Platoon Commander game PCD:K uses version 2 of the Platoon Commander rules, which are identical to the V1.5 rules released with the latest Tiny Battle Publishing Platoon Commander game, Poland Strikes, except with enhanced artillery and new air strike routines.

At the beginning of each turn, the players determine initiative with a unique dice-off system in which ties award the initiative to whomever lacked it the previous turn and applying the Commander's Focus to the roll might tilt the odds in your favor. Next, players will draw a scenario-designated number (usually just one) of Action Cards that may be used for anything from artillery strikes, through rally assists, to negating the opponent's just-played card. Then it is time to rally disrupted units with a simple 1d6 roll against a nationality or scenario-designated morale. Action Cards, in addition to the special Aid chit, may be used to improve a unit's chances of preparing for combat. 1 vol, 1 pgs 2018 US, FLYING PIG GAMES

1-FPG4000 Walker, Mark Old School Tactical (Volume 1) BOST is the first in a dynamic series of fresh, tactical war games. OST simulates, through an easily-learned game system, small unit engagements on the Eastern Front during 1941-42.

Two players contest each scenario using counters representing the soldiers, guns, and vehicles that fought these desperate battles. On each turn play goes back and forth between the sides as Impulse Points are spent to enable a player's forces to act. When the battle is over, casualty and victory points are tallied and a victor is declared.

Infantry target other soft units and attack using their Firepower value against the target's Defense value. The attack can be modified by Leadership, support weapons and terrain effects. And when things get intense, Assault moves into enemy hexes result in deadly Close Combat. Dice rolls are made using the Infantry Combat Table and results are implemented. Attacking armored vehicles requires a roll to Hit the vehicle at range. If a Hit is scored, the Firepower value of the attacker's gun is used against the target's front or flank Defense value. Dice rolls are made using the Vehicle Combat Table and results are enforced. Vehicles may also use their HE Firepower value and secondary armaments directly against soft targets using the Infantry Combat Table.

4 sheets of unit, weapon, vehicle, and condition counters.

1-LWG1102 Dixon, Steve HELL OVER KOREA: An Expansion Module for B-29 Superfortress Early missions (i.e., before November 1950) for the bomber met with little enemy opposition, with relatively ineffective raids against tactical targets. North Korea's few strategic targets and industries were also quickly disposed of.

However, in November 1950 the Chinese Communists were in the war, and the B-29 began facing its first serious opposition with the introduction of large numbers of Soviet MiG-15 fighters. It was now a real contest. However, the MiG-15 had been specifically designed to shoot down B-29s and the aging Superfortresses were outmatched by the jet, even with fighter escorts. Aircraft losses would soon restrict most B-29 missions to night-only attacks, largely in a supply-interdiction role. 1 vol, 1 pgs 2011 US, LEGION WARGAMES LLC

1-SS7002 Belezos, D GREAT BATTLES OF THE WORLD: Marathon 490 BC The Battle of Marathon is a landmark in world history. Through their victory, the Athenian and Plataean hoplites did not merely save their cities from destruction, but they also destroyed the myth of the 'invincibility' of the Persians and proved the superiority of their armor, weaponry and tactics. More significantly, they opened the way for the unhindered evolution of Athens into a center of a civilization whose virtues and ideals became foundations of Western civilization.

1-SS7003 Stavropoulos GREAT BATTLES OF THE WORLD: EL ALAMEIN 1942 During the summer the exhausted British forces in charge of conducting the war in the North African desert were in retreat across all sectors, unable to oppose the 'Rommel phenomenon'. The last obstacle on the road to Alexandria was the British 8th Army, which had finally halted at the isolated El Alamein railroad station after a long, bitter retreat.

At this significant spot, the disciplined British troops and their battle-hardened allies, under General Bernard Law Montgomery, prepared to make a final stand. Rommel launched a violent assault, but was unable to overcome his opponents' stubborn defense. After a bloody 12-day battle, the Africakorps was forced to retreat. 1-TPS02 Rohrbaugh, Paul TURNING POINT SIMULATIONS: The Siege of Syracuse 415-413 BC Maybe one of the oddest things about the lengthy Peloponnesian War is that, after decades of balance, the Athenians actually lost it with a campaign well away from the Greek mainland.

The Athenians have a mighty host of fleets and men, filled with confidence. The Syracusans have a long history of clinging to their independence (and powerful allies coming to foil Athens).

Combat units include cavalry, light troops, peltasts, and the heavily armed hoplites-the backbone of both sides' armies. You the players can decide your best approaches for attack and defense, selecting from pitched battles or skirmishes.or building miles of siege walls.

The Siege of Syracuse includes:

1-TPS20 Various TURNING POINT SIMULATIONS #20: The Battle of Stalingrad Stalingrad comes with hard-mounted maps and mounted, die-cut counters. Each battle is presented in a design of low complexity, but high challenge, from some of the industry's top designers.

Bitter fighting went from block to block, then building to building, and -- literally -- room to room. German troops joked that they had, 'Captured the kitchen but were still fighting for the living room.' Soviet soldiers in the city said, 'There is no land on the other side of the Volga.'

But the battle for Stalingrad the city was only part of the German 1942 campaign, with its multiple priorities of political objectives (like Stalingrad) and resource objectives (like the Caucasus). Now, gamers can face the same questions and try to do better.

Each hexagon on the map is about 33 miles/55 kilometers from east to west. Each turn represents one-half of a month. The typical combat units on the map are Soviet Armies, Axis minor allied Armies and German Corps. 1 vol, 1 pgs 2011 US, AGAINST THE ODDS

1-WAHOO Bomba, Ty WAHOO!: The Battle of Washington July 8 1863 -- Board Game Alternate-history game covering the climactic 8 July 1863 Battle of Washington. One player takes the role of Robert E. Lee, commander of the Army of Northern Virginia, while the other player represents a combined Lincoln/Grant persona.

The game postulates that on the second day at the Battle of Gettysburg, the Confederate attack began earlier... Little Round Top was overrun and the bulk of the Army of the Potomac was forced to fall back on Baltimore to regroup.

The Confederate player is trying to conquer the City of Washington while (optimally) also destroying the Northerner's high command. The degree in which the Rebels succeed or fail is measured in victory points. This basically means, barring Lincoln's death, the Confederate player must gain control of the Capitol and the White House hexes to win. 1 vol, 1 pgs 1991 US, XTE CORP
