3-215640 Hall, Simon MORTEM et GLORIAM: Rules for the Ancient/Medieval Covering 2000BC to 1500AD 2nd edition 2nd edition rules set contains the MeG hardback rule book for Maxiumus, Magna and Pacto sytems, dice, cards, and a set of wound/slow markers.

The changes do not alter any basic rules structures. They change interactions between a few weapon types, the color card you need for certain maneuvers, point costs have been changed, things like that. The point cost changes just mean you need to download (for free) the lates version of the army builder. There are a few changes to how the pregame setup/terrain selection works.

Almost all the changes are 'tweaks' as opposed to 'redesign' stuff. If you own the original stuff you can download all of the changes and bring your rules current from the website.

This 240-page hardback book with a new look and 20 world class pieces of artwork by Giuseppe Rava. It will integrate all clarifications, include a more extensive set of diagrams and will combine Maximus, Magna and Pacto in a single volume. Tokens-are blended with grass background to make games look great. The wound and slow markers have printed casualties and troops on them.1 vol, 240 pgs 2020 UK, PLASTIC SOLDIER

1-226854 McCullough, Joseph STARGRAVE: Bold Endeavour Stargrave Supplement: focuses on the ships that serve as the crews' transports, strategic headquarters, and homes, including new upgrades, a damage system, and rules for crew assignments such as piloting, gunnery, and navigation. New powers, soldiers, technology, and backgrounds for captains and first mates help reinforce crews, while rules for space encounters - dangerous, interesting, and potentially profitable incidents - and five new scenarios bring them face to face with strange alien species and other terrifying dangers in weird and wonderful locations, from unexplored planets to the depths of space.

Just beyond the rim of what was once 'civilized space' lies the vast, colourful expanse of the Crokoan Nebula. Seeking their fortunes, bold independent crews press deep into this largely unexplored sector. But the Ravaged Galaxy is a dangerous place, and the threats that crews face are not limited to those found on a planet's surface. In fact, more independent crews meet their ends in the dark void of space than are wiped out in gunfights. Black holes, asteroid fields, and even the legendary space kraken can all destroy a ship and its crew. It takes a deft hand on the controls, a sharp eye on navigation, and a bit of wizardry with the engines to fly between the stars.1 vol, 96 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239180 Silburn-Slater, Frederick A WAR TRANSFORMED: WWI on the Doggerland Front WWI skirmish wargame with supernatural twist. Players command small forces of infantry, cavalry, artillery, and other. stranger. troops on the Doggerland Front from authentic folk traditions and occult philosophies of the era.

As the Great War raged, the Moon fell from its orbit. Seas shifted, uncovering new lands and revealing what tide and time had concealed. Thrust to the surface, Doggerland, the ancient bridge between Britain and Europe, becomes a crucial battleground in the conflict. In this alien landscape, raiding parties pick through the ribs of wrecks and the ruins of lost villages, war machines festooned with totems and fetishes roll over the brittle bones of long-dead giants, and cavalry charge across plains made verdant by the vegetation returning to this new land with unnatural speed.

The Moon's descent also heralded the terrifying resurgence of magic. Long-forgotten gods and spirits began to stir in hidden groves and caverns and old traditions found new strength. Soon, stone circles echoed once more with the chanting of ancient rituals and menhirs were again bedecked with wildflowers and presented with offerings of honey and blood.1 vol, 224 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239201 Wiley, Jaye MIGHT & MELEE: Fistful of Lead Fantasy Trilogy - Book I Might & Melee is a standalone skirmish rules book. Players familiar with Fistful of Lead will find the core mechanics the same. What we've added is flavor for the genre. Covers Dark Ages, Middle Ages, and War of the Roses. Includes 10 scenarios.

Might & Melee IS NOT a faithful historical recreation of Medieval combat, but rather a Hollywood version of it. The rules doesn't focus on huge battles. Instead we're focusing on individuals. A knight could go his whole life and never see a battle, but he would see numerous skirmishes against robber knights, old enemies and bandits. Not to mention the occasional marauding dragon.

This rulebook can be used by itself for skirmishes between knightly retinues or barbarian warlords, but it is also the first book of three for using Fistful of Lead in a larger fantasy setting. The second book introduces magic, while the third brings in mythical monsters and the underground world they often inhabit.1 vol, 52 pgs 2023 US, WILEY GAME DESIGN

Covers US Marine Corps and Imperial Japanese Army troops, explaining tactics, organization, and equipment for a trio of battles: Tarawa, Roi-Namur, and Eniwetok. On November 20, 1943, amphibious vehicles carrying Marines of the 2d Marine Division reached the shores of Betio Island in the Tarawa Atoll, defended by a determined Japanese garrison that would fight to the last man. This began a test by combat of over two decades of US studies, analyses, and planning for capturing and defending naval bases in Micronesia. 1-995322 Stille, Mark 322 US NAVY GUN DESTROYERS 1945-88 New Vanguard series. Using battlescene artwork, detailed illustrations, and photos, this book explores the careers, modernizations, and roles of the last gun destroyers of the US Navy during the Cold War. WWII Fletcher-class and Gearing-class DDs were modernized under the Fleet Modernization and Rehabilitation (FRAM) program, which allowed them to serve until 1980. The majority of these ships then saw service with foreign navies. Many Sumner-class destroyers were also kept in service, with the last decommissioned in 1973. Also, commissioned in the 1950s, the 18 ships of the Forrest Sherman class were the US Navy's last all-gun destroyers, and were considered to be the pinnacle of US Navy gun-destroyer design. The virtually unknown Norfolk class was originally built as a destroyer leader and maximized for ASW but only two were modernized and the other three retired early. 1 vol, 48 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-999552 Nicolle, David 552 Medieval Indian Armies (2): Indo-Islamic Forces, 7th-Early 16th Centuries From 1206, much of what is now India as well as parts of Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal were ruled by a succession of Islamic dynasties that had their origins in the Ghurid forces that conquered parts of northern India in the 12th century. Although it was never complete, the Islamic domination of this huge region also had a profound impact upon Islamic civilization as a whole, not least in military terms, being felt as far west as Africa. Within South Asia, the war-torn medieval centuries laid the foundations for the subsequent even more brilliant Mughal Empire.

Featuring eight plates of superb artwork alongside carefully chosen photographs and illustrations, this study complements the same author's Medieval Indian Armies (1): Hindu, Buddhist and Jain. It describes and illustrates the Indo-Islamic forces operating in South Asia, from the Umayyad Caliphate's frontier in north-western India and Afghanistan in the late 7th century through to the Delhi Sultanate, the Sultanate of Bengal and the Bahmani Sultanate in the 15th and 16th centuries.

David Nicolle explains how, with respect to arms, armour, fortification and transport both on land and at sea, the widely successful Muslim armies learned a great deal from their more numerous Hindu, Jain and Buddhist opponents. This was especially evident in developments such as the use of war-elephants and the adoption of lighter, often textile-based forms of protection such as 'soft armour' made of cotton. On the other side, there would be widespread adoption of more potent weapons such as the composite bow, and considerably more sophisticated systems of cavalry warfare, among the non-Islamic forces of the Indian sub-continent. Fully illustrated, this absorbing account casts light on many centuries of warfare in South Asia.1 vol, 48 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239190 Livingston, Michael AGINCOURT: Battle of the Scarred King Well-written and extensive analysis of original sources, including the French battle plan that still survives today, provides a new interpretation of the location, battle formation, and progress of the 25 October 1415 battle. Discusses some of the popular myths surrounding the Hollywood version of the battle. Includes 16 pages of color illustrations and numerous black and white maps.

The English invasion of France in 1415 saw them take the French port of Harfleur after a long siege, following which Henry was left with a sick and weakened army, which he chose to march across Normandy to the port of Calais against the wishes of his senior commanders. The French had assembled a superior force and shadowed the English Army before finally blocking its route. The battle that followed was an overwhelming victory for the English, with the French suffering horrific casualties. Agincourt opened the door for Henry V's further conquests in France.

Note: Crecy: Battle of Five Kings (OMM book number 230770) is another readable account by Livingston that suggests an alternate location of another decisive medieval battle.1 vol, 320 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239250 Turnbull, Stephen HOJO: Samurai Warlords 1487-1590 Analyzes a century of samurai warfare using Japanese sources not previously translated into English. Well illustrated with photographs of armor and weapons plus artwork. The history of this violent time is perfectly encapsulated in the campaigns waged by five generations of one outstanding warlord family: the Hojo of Odawara Castle. In 1487 the dynasty's founder attacked a wooden stockade using bows and arrows; in 1590 his great-great grandson defended a huge castle using cannons. Successive Hojo warlords were contemporaries of famous samurai such as Takeda Shingen, Uesugi Kenshin, and Oda Nobunaga, whose armies they fought and defeated, but their end came at the hands of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who defeated the Hojo in a massive siege of their mighty castle of Odawara.

Detailed and authoritative accounts of the campaigns show the Hojo samurai using every trick in the book from sea raiding to ninja attacks. There are also many surprises, such as the use of dogs as messengers and the revelation that the final siege of Odawara in 1590 was no easy matter. When the Hojo dynasty came to its glorious end and their last patriarch committed hara-kiri, Japan and samurai warfare were changed forever.

Additional theaters of war, such as Cossack operations from the summer of 1621 and Tatars raids against the Polish interior, are described as well. Provides details of the organization and strength of the armies, information about the battle dispositions of the troops at Khotyn and commanders leading the troops. Actions leading to the outbreak of the open conflict between the Commonwealth and the Ottoman Empire are explained in a separate chapter, providing a good historical background of the war. 1-239300 Roworth, Vivien NOT SO EASY, LADS: Wearing the Red Coat 1786-1797 First-hand unpublished eye-witness letters of Serjeant Major William Roworth to his wife about being in the redcoats in Georgian England. Roworth's 44th (East Essex) Regiment of Foot was just one of many destined for duty on the Continent, where it joined the Duke of York's army as reinforcements during the War of the First Coalition 1792-1797. On his return to Britain in the late Spring of 1795, he received an order for service in the West Indies. The Roworth letters highlighted so many of the concerns in the lives of soldiers then which are much the same today; love; duty; ambition; children; extended family; sickness at home; the difficulties distance and lack of communication created by infrequency of letters; the careful personal censorship of those letters, to avoid instilling fear - all these and more. William Roworth left his own interpretation of the arenas of Boxtel and the reduction of St Lucia. 1-239281 Brown, Steve KING GEORGE'S ARMY: British Regiments and the Men Who Led Them 1793-1815: Volume 1 - Administration and Cavalry King George's Army: British Regiments and the Men who Led Them 1793-1815 will contain five volumes, with coverage given to cavalry regiments (Volume 1), infantry regiments (Volumes 2-4), and Ordnance and other regiments (Volume 5).

Volume 1 covers in great detail the cavalry regiments that comprised the army of King George III for the period of the Great War with France, and the men who commanded them. Regimental data provided includes shortform regimental lineages, service locations and dispositions for the era, battle honors won, tables of authorized establishments, demographics of the field officer cohorts and of the men. But the book is essentially concerned with the field officers, the lieutenant colonels and majors who commanded the regiments, and Volume 1 alone contains over 1,000 mini-biographies of men who commanded the regiments, including their dates of birth and death, parentage, education, career (including political), awards and honors, and places of residence. Volumes 2 to 5 will extend the coverage to ultimately record over 4,500 biographies across more than 200 regiments.

These biographies show the regimental system in action, officers routinely transferring between regiments for advancement or opportunity, captains who were also (brevet) colonels, many who retired early, and some who stayed the distance to become major generals and beyond. Where it has been possible to accurately ascertain, advancement by purchase, exchange, or promotion has also been noted.1 vol, 358 pgs 2023 UK, HELION AND COMPANY

1-239310 Sullivan, David M and Dirk Nottelmann FROM IRONCLADS TO DREADNOUGHTS: The Development of the German Battleship, 1864-1918 Following unification in 1871, the development of the Imperial German Navy mirrored the rise of Germany as a technical power. Still, such a rise needed more than just technical ability - it required considerable political will and economic resources. The early chapters cover the initial purchase of ships from abroad, the switch to German shipyards, and the hesitant attempts of Emperor Wilhelm II to develop the navy. The later chapters present the fundamental changes after Alfred von Tirpitz became naval minister in 1897. They focus on the history of the various classes of ships, from their inception to the wide variety of design influences, through their history in service and individual fates. The text is accompanied by an abundant selection of illustrations, photographs, maps and tables sourced from the vast Federal Archives at Freiburg and several private archives.1 vol, 504 pgs 2023 UK, HELION AND COMPANY

1-239260 Clayton, Derek TO DO THE WORK OF MEN: An Operational History of the 21st Division in the Great War The 21st (New Army) Division was formed in September 1914 as part of Kitchener's Third Army, comprising units mostly from Yorkshire, Northumberland, Durham, and Lincolnshire. It spent its entire active service on the Western Front, taking part in almost all the major engagements. Only two weeks after having arrived in France, and with no battlefield experience, they were thrown into action on the second day of the costly Battle of Loos. Badly misused by the high command, it was no surprise the division underperformed.

The 21st Division, from May 1916 under the command of Major-General David 'Soarer' Campbell, recovered from this disastrous baptism of fire to achieve creditable success during the Battle of the Somme. The division then re-entered the fray with the newly-introduced tanks in September as British Fourth Army captured the villages of Flers and Gueudecourt. The division experienced mixed fortunes in 1917 at Arras, on coming up against the formidable Hindenburg Line defenses, and during the latter stages of the Third Ypres campaign when defending Polygon Wood against fierce counter attacks before struggling forward through the October mud to assault the hamlet of Reutel. Between March and June of 1918, the 21st Division faced all three major German spring offensives and recovered to play its part in the Hundred Days victories.1 vol, 440 pgs 2023 UK, HELION AND COMPANY

Explores the second half of the history of the WWII North African campaign, from the Gazala offensive in May 1942 that drove the British forces all the way back to the Egyptian frontier and led to the fall of Tobruk, through the pivotal battles of El Alamein, and to the final Allied victory in Tunisia. He examines the armored forces, equipment, doctrine, training, logistics, and operations employed by both Allied and Axis forces throughout the period, focusing especially on the brigade and regimental level of operations.

1-239220 Konstam, Angus THE CONVOY: HG-76: Taking the Fight to Hitler's U-boats HG-76 sailed from Gibraltar to Britain in December 1941 and was specially targeted by the Germans. Luftwaffe aircraft and a U-boat wolfpack targeted the convoy in a rare example of German inter-service cooperation. Yet the British outfitted the convoy escorts with improved radar and sonar that gave the convoy a slight edge over their opponents, while the HMS Audacity, the Royal Navy's first escort carrier, offered aerial surveillance and protection. HG-76 was led by Commander Walker, an anti-submarine expert who had developed new, aggressive U-boat hunting tactics. The convoy endured seven days and nights of relentless attack. Technical and tactical developments infuse the narrative of terror and the stubborn determination that defined the experiences of those that served on convoy duties.1 vol, 320 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239200 Mortimer, Gavin 2SAS: Bill Stirling and the Forgotten Special Forces Unit of World War II Having originally joined the SOE in March 1940, Bill Stirling sailed for Cairo in 1941 and there had the idea for a small special forces unit to be led by his mercurial brother. But despite some success, David allowed the legendary 1SAS to drift under his leadership. Bill re-directed 2SAS, under his personal command, to the strategy he had originally envisaged: parachuting behind enemy lines to gather intelligence.

Fully illustrated with rare and previously unpublished photographs, this book details how 2SAS fought with ingenuity and aggression, from Italy and then into France before heading through Holland into Germany. The unit was capable of attacking by parachute, jeep, or landing craft, establishing a template for future special forces' operations. Their feats have been overshadowed by the many books that have focused on David and 1SAS. 2SAS corrects this oversight, revealing that the real innovator was Bill Stirling - the true pioneer of Who Dares Wins.1 vol, 272 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

2-230070 Tillman, Barrett WHEN THE SHOOTING STOPPED: August 1945 The stunning dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki on August 6 and 9 seemed sure to force Tokyo over the tipping point. In fact, most of the Japanese cabinet refused to surrender and vicious dogfights still raged in the skies above Japan. This recap of the final weeks of the war details the last brutal battles on air, land, and sea with first-hand accounts from troops on all sides. Also details the first weeks of a tenuous peace and the drawing of Cold War battle lines as Soviet forces concluded their invasion of Manchuria.1 vol, 304 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

2-230340 Cleaver, Thomas McKelvey GOING DOWNTOWN: The US Air Force Over Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia 1961-75 Examines the US Air Force's struggle in the skies over Vietnam Southeast Asia, starting in 1962 when instructors were sent to train Vietnamese pilots. Covers the major air operations against the north: Rolling Thunder from 1965 to 1968, and then Linebacker I and II in 1972, with the latter seeing the deployment of America's fearsome B-52 bombers against the North Vietnamese capital Hanoi. These operations were carried out in the face of a formidable Soviet-inspired air defence system bristling with anti-aircraft guns and SAM missile sites. Beyond this, the US Air Force was intimately involved in secret air wars against Laos and Cambodia - one cannot speak of a war only in Vietnam regarding US Air Force operations. The war the Air Force fought was a war in Southeast Asia, including attacking the Ho Chi Minh Trail at night with modified T-28 trainers, to missions Downtown (Hanoi)..

This book complements Cleaver's The Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club (OMM Book number 228230), which covered the US Navy's aerial war over Vietnam.1 vol, 352 pgs 2023 UK, OSPREY PUBLISHING

1-239240 Antal, John F. NEXT WAR: Reimagining How We Fight An analysis of the lessons learned from recent wars, including the conflict in Ukraine, and how top war-fighting disrupters are transforming the methods of warfare. The nature of war is constant change -- today, the battlespace is transparent; multi-domain sensors can see anything, and long-range precision fire can target everything that is observed. Autonomous weapons can be unleashed into the battlespace and attack any target from above, hitting the weakest point of tanks and armored vehicles. The velocity of war is hyper-fast. Imagines a peer fight against Communist China, a new war in Europe against a resurgent Russia, or a conflict against Iran in the Middle East. 1 vol, 256 pgs 2023 US, CASEMATE
